Met police arrest data for Nov 9

According to the Met police there were 20 arrests during the Nov 9 demonstraion in central London (as of 4:45pm yesterday afternoon) They were:

3 x Section 2 and 3 of the Public Order Act (violent disorder and affray respectively)
1 x Offensive Weapon
3 x Going Equipped
1 x Section 60aa
12 x Breach of the Peace

Breach of the peace is not a criminal offence and any arrest would not result in a criminal charge.

  1. Section 60aa would be refusal to remove a mask?

    Going equipped for what? Is this also for wearing masks?

    Remember with violent disorder/affray they need a certain number of people involved before it will hold. It’s a defence that only 1 person did it.

    • Section 60aa is the refusal to remove a mask

      going equipped to commit criminal damage, or for stealing. In this case most likely going equipped to commit criminal damage. This could be anything from having spray cans on their person, to paint bombs, or even a hammer.

      Correct to say violent disorder needs three or more people present together using or threatening to use unlawful violence for the charge to stick although affray only needs the accused to use or threaten to use unlawful violence towards another person for the charge to be valid.
